Lesley Jane Nixon – Designer. Maker.
Based in Leek, the gateway to the beautiful Peak District National Park, I draw my inspiration for both artwork and jewellery from the rugged and wild surroundings of the high moorland of North Staffordshire.
I have worked in the creative sector for many years. I began as a self taught hot glass artist in 2003, undertaking advanced tuition from the world renowned lampwork bead artist, Larry Scott in Austin TX during 2006.
After many years working solely with glass, I undertook a 3 year foundation Art degree at Leek School of Art.
After a roller coaster ride of highs and lows, I have learned a lot about running a business and being in touch with customers face to face instead of virtually. I have also learned about working with a co-operative, learning lessons both professionally and personally.
Sadly, this chapter has now closed and I am finding myself moving on to pastures new … or pastures old, anyway. I’m nothing if not resilient and inventive !
After taking a semi- sabbatical to dedicate myself to art and gallery ownership, I am relaunching online as a glass artist. I have been making beads for over 15 years and I have decided to use that experience in a more focused way and concentrate on glass. I also hope to learn a few new techniques and revisit some old favourites too.
My glass beads and other creations can be found online in my webshop, using the “Shop now on Etsy” button just below the menu at the top.
